Capoeira Angola music class

One and only Capoeira Angola music classes held in London!

Music is the heart of Capoeira Angola – in the process of trying to seek the way to be a complete capoerista, dedication to the music is vital not only the movement. The musicality takes time to mature and understand specially for us who grown up/live outside Brasil.

The dedicated music class helps you get close to the heart of Capoeira Angola and grow your musicality.

From beginners to advanced, all welcome – let’s learn it together!

The class helps you to grow your CONFIDENCE and UNDERSTANDINGS on:

• musicality of each instrument
• harmony in bateria
• singing and playing simultaneously
• various toques of berimbau etc.

Discussions about music in Capoeira Angola: learning about history and background of Capoeira Angola music will also give you deeperlevel of understandings on roda and jogo.

FICA London monthly roda: 10th Nov 18:00-

Our monthly roda is back!

We would like to invite you to our monthly Capoeira Angola Roda that will take place this Sunday the 10th of November 2013.

This month we will be commemorating the anniversary of Mestre Pastinha’s death. Mestre pastinha have been said to have spent bitter twilight years despite the great contributions he left to the history of Capoeira Angola. We’d like to share a bit of his story with you & tribute the roda to his life.

For this reason it would be great if we all dressed in white for this roda, if you can’t dress all in white, at least a white t-shirt would be great.

We hope that you can join us and that you bring lots of energia and axé to another great Capoeira Angola Roda!

África:Brasil Cultures of resistance: Capoeira Angola & Candomblé

In conjunction with Black History Month 2013, it’s with great pleasure that we from FICA London would like to invite all of the local and international capoeira community and further to join us for a great workshop with our Mestre Valmir from FICA Bahia!

This time it’s even more unmissable since a very special guest Mãe Ejá from one and only terreiro de candomblé (temple of an Afro-Brazilian religion) in the UK is joining us to share with its culture and tradition with a talk, dance and music.

As many of capoeiristas know, candomblé has profound relationship with capoeira and it’s going to be a very rare opportunity for us to experience the candomblé tradition in conjunction with capoeira angola in London presenting the Afro-Brazilian cultures of resistance.
